Students returned from Winter break to a set of new rules posted by administrators to regulate their use of the band room. Papers detailing the rules are now posted across the rooms specifying, “There is no hanging out inside the music building for the foreseeable future.” They also specify that students may not be in the room if there is not a teacher or adult supervisor. Although many students were used to staying in the band room during breaks, they may now only be inside the building during nutrition breaks and lunches if they’re practicing music or doing homework. However, they are not allowed to have any food in the rooms at any time, including at the mats by the entrance. Furthermore, students are only allowed inside the instrument storage room before school, before and after class, and after school. There was not a clear reason behind the administration of these new rules, but hopefully students will be able to adjust.
